TEMPLE (January 31, 2013)—Temple police have recovered the statue of a piglet that was taken earlier this month from a neighborhood park.
A resident reported the disappearance of the piglet, which is one of the "Three Pigs" statues secured in concrete in Oak Creek Park last week, but officials said it wasn’t clear how long the statue had been missing.
Police recovered the statue on Wednesday.
It will be returned to the park once the investigation of the theft has been completed.
“The investigation into the theft is on-going so additional details cannot be released at this time,” Temple police Cpl. Christopher Wilcox said Thursday.
An order was placed last week for a new piglet, which would have cost $850, but the city was able to cancel the order.
The bronze statues were placed in the park in 2007, paid for with community donations, but the city would have picked up the tab for the replacement.
