WACO (October 30, 2012)--Waco police were searching for one and possibly two robbers Tuesday after a 26-year-old man was hit with a gun and robbed of his wallet Monday night near the Baylor campus.

Just before 10 p.m. Monday the victim was in an alley behind the University Terrace Apartments where he had been talking with an Asian woman, police said Tuesday.

The woman left and a short time later a man accosted the victim, pulled out a gun and struck him on the head, which caused the gun to discharge.

The robber took the victim’s wallet, iPhone and keys, police said.

The robber was last seen on James Avenue near South 8th Street.

The victim suffered a gash on his head, but was not taken to the hospital, police said.

The man whom police are seeking is black and was wearing a blue and white letter jacket, police said.

The woman is Asian and was wearing purple pajama pants, police said.

It’s not clear whether she was involved in the robbery.

Baylor officials issued a campus-wide alert late Monday night that said the victim was female and it wasn’t immediately clear Tuesday whether the alert was in reference to the same incident.
