HARKER HEIGHTS (July 1, 2014) A shooting early Sunday evening in a Harker Heights neighborhood that left a man dead appears to have been accidental, police said Tuesday.
Officers who responded just after 5:30 p.m. Sunday to a report of gunfire in the 400 block of Clore Road found a man in a home with a gunshot wound to the upper torso, police said.
The victim was taken to Scott & White Hospital in Temple where he later died.
“The incident is currently under investigation, but the current indications are that the discharge of the weapon was accidental,” police said in a brief press release.
The victim was not identified.
