Police: Central Texas Man Beat Neighbor To Death With Guitar

AUSTIN (April 24, 2012)—Peter Levay, 42, of Austin, was jailed Tuesday, charged with murder in the beating death of his neighbor.

Police say the victim was beaten to death in his apartment with a guitar.

Levay’s bond was set at $200,000.

Authorities are trying to determine a motive for the killing.

An affidavit says police found the body of Maurice Eckert, 63, was found Sunday after Levay returned home and mentioned an altercation to his roommate.

Police say the death appears to have been caused by blunt force trauma to the head, evidently caused by a guitar.
