HEWITT (December 5, 2012)- Parents can see it as they drop off or pick up their children from Castleman Creek Elementary school in Hewitt. A porn outreach billboard in front of the school is gaining attention from some concerned parents.

The sign advertises Pure Freedom Ministry's fight against porn addiction. "Internet Pornography," can be seen on the billboard in large letters.

Castleman Creek Elementary School parent, Jon Black, feels the placement of the billboard is questionable.

"I think there's a time and place for that sort of thing," Black said.

"A porn outreach billboard that close to an elementary school is not appropriate."

Black noticed the sign while taking his 5-year-old to school. He feels the word "pornography" shouldn't be exposed to his son this early.

"He's at a stage where he's learning to sound out words, and learning to read," Black said.

"I don't want him sounding out the word 'porn' or 'pornography'."

Castleman Creek Elementary School teaches from 4th grade to Pre-K.

Though many parents we talked with found the board inappropriate, Pure Freedom Ministry's founder Terry Ermoian disagrees.

"There isn't an age too early to be talking about the dangers of pornography," Ermoian said.

"Statistics show that boys at 5 years of age and girls at 7 years of age are first exposed to porn."

Ermoian says he didn't intentionally choose the billboard's placement, but thinks it can be a positive tool.

"I'm glad parents are concerned about it, because I'm concerned about it," Ermoian said.

"This sign can positively open up a line of communication for parents to be able to talk about porn with their children."

Midway ISD told News 10 that they contacted both the sign company and Pure Freedom Ministry to share parents' concern.

Other parents we talked with said the issue of pornography isn't discussed enough.

However, Black feels he shouldn't have to force that discussion on his 5-year-old son.

"I believe the sign introduces a word that is a really deep and dirty topic," Black said.

"It's something an innocent child doesn't need to deal with right now."
