(June 9, 2014) Thousands of area residents were without electricity Monday morning as heavy storms rolled through the region.
About 800 lost power in the Waco area Monday morning and more than 3,000 were without power in Killeen, where the outage was attributed to a lightning strike.
By late morning, about 700 were without power in the Killeen area several hundred were still in the dark in the Waco area.
Service had been restored to most by early afternoon.
The outage knocked out traffic lights at some intersections and firefighters responded to several reports of downed power lines.
Authorities were also keeping an eye on the level of Nolan Creek at Little Avenue.
In North Texas, Oncor reported nearly 24,000 customers without power Monday morning, mainly in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.
The aviation tracking website FlightAware.com reported some weather-related delays Monday at Dallas Love Field and Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport.
