Pregnant Texas Woman Hit By Car Dies After Giving Birth

SAN MARCOS (October 30, 2011)—Diann Ford, 22, who was struck by a hit-and-run driver as she walked home from work in San Marcos, gave birth to a baby girl before she died, police said.

San Marcos police say Ford was returning from her job at Long John Silver's late Tuesday when she was hit.

Ford, who was 37 weeks pregnant, was taken to an Austin hospital that night and gave birth by cesarean section Wednesday.

The newborn girl was taken to the hospital's pediatric intensive care unit.

Ford died Thursday.

Her boss Kris Jaccard said Ford was excited about her future as a mother.

Jaccard said Ford knew she was having a girl and had picked out a name.

Police were trying to find the driver of the car that hit her.
