FRISCO (August 26, 2012)--A truck registered to country singer Randy Travis has been found tipped over and abandoned in a field behind a Walmart Neighborhood Market in Frisco.
Police say they are investigating, but said they haven't yet been able to talk to Travis.
Travis' lawyer, Larry Friedman, said a ranch hand was using the truck.
He said Travis will follow up to find out how it ended up in the field. Friedman says Travis rarely uses the truck himself.
The truck was found less than two days after Plano police said they cited Travis for simple assault related to an argument Thursday night in a church parking lot between a woman and her estranged husband.
Plano police Officer David Tilley said Friday that Travis evidently knew the woman and got involved.
The man involved in the confrontation was identified in a police report as Dr. Ritchie Beougher, 55, a Plano dentist who owns the popular Moon River Ranch resort in Satin in rural Falls County.
Nobody was hurt, Tilley said, but Travis and another woman were both ticketed for simple assault, a Class C misdemeanor similar to a parking citation.
Travis’ representative didn't immediately comment.
Travis was arrested on Aug. 7 in Grayson County on charges of driving while intoxicated and retaliation or obstruction, for allegedly threatening officers.
He was arrested in February in Sanger for public intoxication.
The Plano police report did not indicate alcohol was involved in the latest incident.
