ARLINGTON (July 6, 2013) -- Thousands of West residents were at the Ballpark in Arlington Saturday as the Rangers hosted the "City of West Night."
The team honored the entire community affected by April's fertilizer plant explosion by making several donations to help with the rebuilding effort.
Rangers' designated hitter Lance Berkman presented the West Fire Department with a fire truck prior to Saturday's game, while the team presented the city with a check for $100 thousand.
The team also planned to collect baseball equipment from fans to provide for youth leagues in West.
West mayor Tommy Muska was supposed to throw out the first pitch, but instead handed off the honor to five first responders injured in the explosion.
