TYLER (May 29, 2014) Authorities have identified a man whose remains were found rolled up in a burning carpet along a rural Texas road as Marvin Lee Brown, 53, and think the discovery may be linked to a partial body recovered in Louisiana.
Brown’s remains were identified through fingerprint records, the Smith County Sheriff’s Office said.
The Parker County man’s remains were found last week and hours later a vehicle linked to the case was recovered.
Detectives later learned of the discovery of a partial body in a lake off Interstate 20 near Shreveport that initially was thought to be that of someone struck by a boat propeller, Smith County Sheriff Larry Smith said.
Smith declined to provide details about the recovered body parts, but did say Brown suffered head trauma.
