TEMPLE (October 19, 2012)—Tarver Elementary School in Temple was locked down briefly Friday afternoon after Temple police received a report that an emotionally distraught woman who was threatening suicide was en route to pick up her child.

The school at 7949 Stonehollow Dr. in Temple was placed on soft lockdown at around 2:30 p.m., the campus was searched and the woman was located outside the building, police said.

She was taken to Scott & White Hospital for a mental health evaluation.

The school’s more than 700 students were never in danger, police said, and were released from school after a short delay.

Buses were running about 20 minutes late because of the lockdown, police said.
