AUSTIN (February 22, 2013)—The Texas Department of Public Safety Friday added Nicholas Vonwayne Prejean, 24, to the state’s Most Wanted Sex Offender List and offered a $3,000 reward for information leading to his arrest.
Prejean, who authorities say may be a member of the Crips gang, is a “high risk” sex offender “with a violent criminal past,” the DPS said.
He’s wanted for failure to register as a sex offender and for a probation violation.
Prejean was born in Beaumont and has relatives living in the Houston area, the DPS said.
He has worked as an electrician’s assistant.
He has been arrested for aggravated sexual assault of a child, assault causing bodily injury, drug possession and failure to comply with sex offender registration, the DPS said, and was convicted and sentenced to two years in prison in 2006 for the sexual assault of a 13-year-old girl.
He’s 5-foot-11, weighs about 170 pounds and has tattoos on his back, chest, neck and on both arms.
