Ruling Made In Deaths Of Doctor, Husband Found In Texas Hotel Room

GALVESTON (November 8, 2012)--A coroner has ruled that the deaths of a North Carolina doctor and her husband whose bodies were found in a hotel room in Galveston were a double suicide.

Toxicology tests found 21 drugs in the body of William Cargile, 58, including muscle relaxers and opiates.

The county medical examiner's office earlier said Dr. Leslie Cargile, 53, who practiced in Black Mountain, N.C., had eight drugs in her system.

Authorities believe the couple left a hotel in Mobile, Ala., on Aug. 18 and arrived in Galveston the next day.

Their bodies were discovered Aug. 24 in the Galveston hotel room.

Investigators previously said foul play was not suspected in the deaths.

Empty physician sample packs of medication were found inside the hotel room.
