GALVESTON (August 15, 2013)—The U.S. Coast Guard is searching search for a fisherman whose pleasure boat was found going in circles near Galveston with his dog still on board.
The Coast Guard is using both helicopters and boats in the effort to locate the 50-year-old man, Lt. Matthew Walter said Thursday.
Walter says the man and his yellow Labrador set out from a marina in the 17-foot shallow-water boat after lunch Wednesday.
Walter declined to release the name of the fisherman whose vessel was discovered several hours later by another boater in West Bay.
Walter says the man's wallet, cellphone and a life preserver were in the boat.
There’s no indication of foul play, the Coast Guard said.
