FORT HOOD (September 3, 2013)—A funeral service will be held
later this week in New Hampshire for Fort Hood Cpl. Tyler Pimpis, 22, who died Wednesday in Killeen when his motorcycle slammed into the rear of a pickup.
Pimpis was riding a motorcycle at what police said was a high rate of speed when the bike slammed into the pickup Wednesday night in the 2800 block of Trimmier Road.
Pimpis was northbound on Trimmier when the driver of the southbound pickup attempted to turn east into a parking lot.
The Honda motorcycle struck the front right driver’s side of the pickup and Pimpis was thrown from the bike.
Pimpis, who was not wearing a helmet, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Pimpis, of Londonderry, N.H., was a 2009 graduate of Londonderry High School, where he was a member of the varsity lacrosse and football teams.
He joined the U.S. Army in January 2010, and deployed to Afghanistan from 2011 to 2012.
Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium in Londonderry.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
