AMARILLO (April 9, 2014) Seven people were taken to the hospital in Amarillo after a chain-reaction accident that sent an SUV through the outer wall of a fast-food restaurant.
The accident happened Tuesday night when a tractor-trailer hauling a load of hay entered an intersection along a busy boulevard and struck a Honda in which three people were riding, police said.
The force of the collision sent the rig over a curb and into a McDonald's parking lot where it struck an SUV, pushing it through the restaurant’s outer wall.
Two people inside the restaurant were among those taken to a hospital.
The injuries were not considered life-threatening, police said.
Police Cpl. Sean Slover said Wednesday the initial collision was the result of a vehicle running a red light, but he wasn't certain which one.
