Rusty Garrett here with the weekend outlook: Saturday, rain stays with us, but should taper off by Sunday, the drier of the two days.
HOUSTON (July 9, 2014) Seven construction workers were rescued Wednesday morning from a van that crashed through a highway barrier and plunged into White Oak Bayou in Houston.
Rescuers used a boat to reach the van and then extended a ladder to the victims.
The seven men were taken to a hospital with what appeared to be minor injuries.
Their names were not immediately released.
Officials believe the workers were headed for a construction site when the driver of the white van in which they were lost control of the vehicle at around 6:40 a.m. near the North Freeway and Calvacade.
At one point the seven men were either on the roof or hanging out of the windows of the van, with water up to the windows.
Authorities are trying to determine what caused the accident.
