Woman Shot At Rural Home Dies In Area Hospital

A woman who was shot early Friday at a rural home later died at a Central Texas hospital.

MADISON COUNTY (June 27, 2014) A woman who was critically injured early Friday in a shooting at a home in rural Madison County later died at a Bryan hospital, authorities said.

The woman was shot in the upper chest with a rifle, authorities said, but other details weren’t immediately released and it’s not clear whether the shooting was accidental.

The 56-year-old woman, who was not immediately identified, was taken to St. Joseph Regional Health Center in Bryan, KBTX-TV reported.

The shooting happened at a home on Highway 21 near North Zulch west of Madisonville.

Authorities weren’t searching for suspects, KBTX reported.
