Shooting Victim Turns Up At Local Hospital

WACO (April 28, 2014) Waco police still were looking for leads after a man with a gunshot wound turned up in the emergency room of Hillcrest Baptist Medical Center Saturday.

Emergency room personnel called police at around 2:30 p.m. to report that a gunshot victim was being treated.

The 21-year-old victim was taken to the hospital in a private vehicle, Waco police Sgt. W. Patrick Swanton said.

Swanton also said the victim and the suspect are acquainted.

The shooting occurred while the victim was at a convenience store in the 1100 block of Faulkner Lane in Waco.

The victim was shot in the lower leg and his injuries are not life-threatening, Swanton said.

Officers believe they know who the suspect is, but no arrests have been made at this time.
