Shots Fired During Attempted Central Texas Home Invasion

BOSQUE COUNTY (February 20, 2013)—John Day, 69, was jailed Wednesday in Bosque County, facing a laundry list of charges after an attempted home invasion during which shots were fired at the door of a rural home.

A woman who lives in the house called 911 at around 1 a.m. Wednesday to report that someone was attempting to break into her home and said she could hear gunshots.

Dispatchers kept her on the line as deputies raced to the house on County Road 3670.

When deputies arrived, shots were still being fired.

They found the gunman on a river bank nearby and they and McLennan County deputies took the man into custody.

No one was injured.

Day is facing charges of burglary of a habitation, six counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, two counts of child endangerment and one count of possession of marijuana, the Bosque County Sheriff’s Office said.
