HOUSTON (November 29, 2012)--A pedestrian died after she was pinned to a light pole by a shuttle bus that crashed Wednesday night at the Texas Medical Center complex.

The Houston Fire Department said 11 people on board the bus were injured Wednesday night.

The woman who was killed had been standing near the pole.

Authorities say the driver of the bus, which is used to shuttle employees around the sprawling hospital campus, may have suffered a medical problem.

Deputy Chief Fernando Herrera says a passenger then evidently tried to steer the vehicle but the shuttle hit the pole.

Herrera says 17 people were on the bus.

The driver and 10 passengers were treated for injuries that ranged from cuts and bruises to a broken arm.
