WACO (March 19, 2014) James Arthur Jeffcoat, 49, was in the McLennan County Jail Wednesday awaiting charges after a crowbar attack that sent a skateboarder to a local hospital.

The victim and a friend were skateboarding at around 6:45 p.m. Tuesday beneath the 18th Street overpass across the railroad tracks when a man confronted them and started a fight, Waco police Sgt. W. Patrick Swanton said.

The victim’s mother called police and reported that a man with a large knife was attacking her son, but officers determined a crowbar was used, Swanton said.

The crowbar was recovered at the scene.

The victim, whose name wasn’t released, was taken to a local hospital.

Information about his injuries and condition wasn’t available Wednesday.

Jeffcoat is facing an aggravated assault charge, online jail records show.
