WIGGINS, Miss. (August 15, 2014) A single-engine plane on a flight from Dallas to Mobile, Ala., crashed as the pilot attempted to land in a field in Mississippi, injuring the three people aboard, two of them seriously.
The three victims were taken to a hospital in Hattiesburg, Miss.
Sheriff's deputies say the pilot tried to land in a field Thursday off Mississippi 29, but the plane clipped a tree and just short of the road.
Authorities think the plane developed a problem before the pilot attempted the landing.
Jeff Bramblett, 62, of Mesquite was flying the 2007 Cessna 602, said Lt. Lewis Husband of the Stone County Sheriff's Office.
Husband says Bramblett suffered head trauma, a broken arm and possibly other injuries.
He identified the two passengers as Joe Paul Mentesara, 66, of Dallas and Jeff Franklin, 43, of Sherman.
