TEMPLE (November 7, 2012)--A smoky fire in a dust collector briefly halted work for a short time Wednesday morning at a Temple manufacturing plant, but the fire was quickly doused and no one was injured.

The fire was reported at around 9 a.m. at the DanHil Containers Co. plant at 3715 Lucius McKelvey Road in Temple’s industrial park, but by the time firefighters got to the scene, employees had put the fire out.

Firefighters checked the area to ensure there was nothing still burning and cleared the scene within a few minutes.

Firefighters disassembled the duct work on the dust collector to check for embers but found none.

Temple Fire & Rescue spokesman Thomas Pechal said the fire started in the hopper of a dust collector and was confined to that machine.

The plant manufactures corrugated products, tapes and poly bags.
