WACO (November 28, 2012)--Speed limits on several state and U.S. highways in Central Texas will be increased to 75 miles per hour over the next few months, a Texas Department of Public Transportation spokesman said Wednesday.
Ken Roberts, public information officer for TxDOT said Wednesday the speed limit increase is expected to take place before Christmas in McLennan County and will affect State Highways 31, 164 and 317 and U.S. Highway 84.
Changes on highway in other counties are expected to take place in late winter or early spring, Roberts said.
Highways affected in Bell County include State Highways 36, 195 and 317 and U.S. Highway 190.
Roberts said there are 31 roadways within the Waco TxDOT district on which speed limits will be increased.
Counties included in the list of places to be affected are Bell, Bosque, Falls, Hamilton Hill and Limestone, Roberts said.
