Stray Shot Fired During Robbery Hits Texas Police Officer

HOUSTON (October 8, 2012)—A stray bullet from a gun fired during a robbery blocks away struck a Houston police officer and investigators want to know who opened fire.

Police Monday appealed to the public for help in finding the person who fired the shot that left the officer with a superficial wound.

The officer did not require medical treatment after the incident Sunday.

His name hasn't been released.

Police say the officer was involved in a traffic stop about four blocks from where a person was robbed and gunfire broke out.

The robbery victim wasn't hurt.

Further details weren't immediately released.
