Rain, Not Street Racing, Caused Crash That Killed Texas Teen

DALLAS (January 28, 2012)--Police now say a deadly one-car crash in southern Dallas that investigator initially said was caused by street racing resulted instead from a combination of speeding and a wet road.

The accident killed one teenager and left two others including the driver injured.

Police now say the car in which the teens were riding hit a puddle and veered out of control, slamming into a utility pole at around 4:15 p.m. Thursday on Texas 342 near the University of North Texas Dallas campus.

The back-seat passenger died at the scene.

The driver was taken to Baylor University Medical Center in critical condition, and the front-seat passenger was at Baylor in stable condition.
