DALLAS (December 7, 2013) A treacherous section of icy Interstate 35 north of Dallas has been closed intermittently for as long as five hours because 18-wheelers can’t make it up a slick hill, clogging the normally busy highway,
Texas Department of Transportation spokeswoman Michelle Releford said Saturday.
Releford said the troublesome hill is near Sanger, about 50 miles north of Dallas, where trucks are getting stuck in the northbound lanes.
She says the backups can extend for miles.
The ice has become so hard it's difficult for the sand and salt mixture applied by road crews to work, she said.
