KILLEEN (April 7, 2014) For the third time in less than two weeks, a student has been caught with a gun at a Killeen school, but this time officials say the gun was designed to fire only blanks.

The latest incident happened Monday at Palo Alto Middle School where administrators “received information of a student potentially possessing a weapon on our campus,” Principal Matt Widacki said in a letter sent home to parents.

“Administration took immediate action, investigated, and confiscated an imitation gun designed to fire blanks only. The student was taken into custody,” Widacki said.

No further details were released.

A student who was caught with a weapon Friday at Killeen High School was arrested, but few other details have been released.

“Staff were alerted to a student being in possession of a weapon. Immediate action was taken, the weapon was confiscated and law enforcement officials took the student into custody,” Principal Susan Buckley said in a message that was sent to parents.

The type of weapon the student had was not disclosed.

The incident occurred a little more than a week after a student was caught with a gun on March 26 at Charles Patterson Middle School in Killeen.

“We received information of a student having a weapon on our campus,” Principal Jill Balzer said in a letter to parents.

“Administration took immediate action and confiscated the weapon. Law enforcement officers took the student into custody and there was never a threat to student safety,” the letter said.

No other details were released.
