Suspected Copper Thief Found Dead At Texas Substation

CONROE (October 25, 2012)--A man suspected of trying to steal copper has been found dead at an electrical substation near Houston, authorities said Thursday.

The Montgomery County Sheriff's Office said Thursday that investigators believe the man was electrocuted in the process of stealing wiring.

Employees of CenterPoint Energy Inc. late Wednesday night received a service call to the substation and found the dead man.

Lt. Dan Norris says the facility was damaged and copper wiring was missing.

Deputies determined a fence had been cut to gain entry.

Investigators believe at least one other person was involved in the theft, but nobody has been arrested.

The name of the man who died wasn't immediately released pending notification of relatives.
