MCLENNAN COUNTY (June 24, 2014) A bomb squad was called in after the discovery of a suspicious package Tuesday morning in a mailbox in rural McLennan County, but the package turned out to be a bag of flour.
A woman called the McLennan County Sheriff's Office at around 9:30 a.m. Tuesday after finding the package.
Authorities blocked off a portion of Old Mexia Road South of U.S. Highway 84 east of Bellmead after the discovery.
The bomb squad spent about three hours at the scene before determining the contents.
Authorities think the package was placed in the mailbox as a prank.
