MILAM COUNTY (January 4, 2014) Bushra Al-Muaala, 19, of Missouri City, whose death authorities first thought was the result of a hit-and-run on U.S. Highway 36 in Milam County, was not the victim of an accident investigators now say.
Deputies found Al-Muaala critically injured on the highway a few miles south of Milano after responding to a report of a hit-and run early Thursday afternoon.
She was taken to Richards Memorial Hospital in Rockdale and then was later transferred to St. Joseph Hospital in Bryan where she was removed from life support and died just after 10 p.m. Thursday, Milam County Chief Deputy Chris White said in a press release Friday.
Investigators have since determined that the incident that claimed her life was not a hit-and-run, but authorities Friday weren’t providing any further details.
“In the interest of preserving the integrity of our on-going investigation, we will be unable to give any further details, other than to say it is an isolated incident and there is no danger to the public,” White said in the press release.
