Teen Sentenced For Accident That Killed 2 Texas Women

HUGO, Colo. (February 9, 2013)—Tristan Martin, 16, of Sulphur, La., has been sentenced to two years of probation for a traffic crash in Colorado that left two Texas women dead.

Martin was also was sentenced to 300 hours of public service and told he can't drive for two years.

Prosecutors say the teenager was driving an 18-wheeler to a competition in Wyoming last year when the rig hit two Texas women who were changing a tire on the side of Interstate 70 near Limon, Colo.

Shun Jones, 48, of Carrollton, and Amanda Omo-Iyamu, 38, of Balch Springs were killed.

The teenager, who left before officers arrived at the accident scene, was originally charged with two felony counts of leaving the scene of a deadly accident, as well as one misdemeanor count of careless driving causing death.

The boy's father, Michael Martin, 37, who initially told authorities he was driving the truck, is still facing charges.
