Teenager Inmate Bolts En Route To Central Texas Juvenile Facility

AUSTIN (December 14, 2012)--Authorities were searching Friday for a shackled 16-year-old state inmate who eluded guards by wriggling through a fence hole and jumping onto a passing train while being taken to a maximum-security juvenile facility in Mart.

The teenager, who’s serving time for a robbery, said he was feeling sick, so the guards stopped the transfer van in San Antonio and let him out so he could vomit, Juvenile Justice Department spokesman Jim Hurley said.

The teenager managed to sneak through a hole in a fence and fled.

He jumped onto a slow-moving work train passing by.

By the time authorities stopped the train the teenager had disappeared.
