Teen Stabbed To Death Near Texas University Campus; Arrest Made

ABILENE (July 28, 2014) Abilene police made an arrest Monday after a stabbing near the campus of Abilene Christian University that left a teenager dead and another person seriously injured.

The stabbing happened early Sunday morning at a housing complex near the university, Abilene Police Chief Stan Standridge said.

Kaleb Cory, 19, was stabbed several times and later died at a hospital.

D’Angelo Bell, 18, was jailed Monday in lieu of bonds totaling $290,000 charged with capital murder in the death.

He was also charged with assault on a public servant.

After he was arrested and placed in a patrol car, police say he kicked out a window and injured an officer, authorities said.

Police say Bell fought with Cory early Sunday morning after the victim confronted him about stealing several items an apartment where a party was held.

Another man was stabbed in the lower back during the fight.

He has not been identified.

Authorities say Cory was stabbed several times and was taken to a hospital where he later died.
