BELLMEAD (September 12, 2012)--A teenager was injured Wednesday morning when a car struck her at Loop 340 and Bellmead Drive in Bell mead.
Bellmead police Detective Michael Miller said officers and paramedics were sent just before 7 a.m. Wednesday to the 4000 block of Bellmead Drive where a passing vehicle struck the girl.
Miller said witnesses told officers the girl was struck after she ran into traffic on Bellmead Drive.
The girl, who was not identified, was taken by ambulance to a local hospital for treatment of injuries that were described as non-life-threatening.
Miller said she is a student at La Vega High School and she was in stable condition Wednesday afternoon.
The driver of the vehicle was arrested at the scene, Miller said, because he did not have a valid driver's license and did not have required proof of insurance.
