Teenager Struck By Patrol Car Flown To Local Hospital

KILLEEN (July 24, 2014) A teenager who was struck by a Killeen police patrol vehicle early Wednesday as an officer responded to a report of an aggravated robbery was in stable condition Thursday at Baylor Scott & White Hospital in Temple.

The officer was headed east on Veterans Memorial Boulevard at around 12:30 a.m. Wednesday when the 18-year-old victim stepped into the path of the patrol vehicle as he crossed the road at 38th street, police said.

The officer, who had a green light at the intersection, attempted to avoid the teenager, but the patrol vehicle clipped the pedestrian.

The teenager, whose name hasn’t been released, suffered broken bones.

The accident is under investigation.
