COPPERAS COVE (June 7, 2013)—The family of a 15-year-old boy arrested after an incident at a local movie theater has filed an excessive force complaint against two Copperas Cove police officers.
Linda Vasquez said she and her son Giovanni filed the complaint late Wednesday after the incident on June 1 at a Copperas Cove movie theater.
The teenager said he was accused of harassing some teenage girls at the theater.
He said the girls told the manager who then called the police.
Giovanni said that when he went outside the theater, two officers began questioning him and then things got physical as he was taken into custody, handcuffed and taken to the police department.
Vasquez said police claimed her son resisted arrest.
She said he suffered a cut to the head and injuries to his shoulder and said she took him to the hospital because he couldn’t move his arm.
An examination showed that the arm wasn’t broken.
Copperas Cove City Manager confirmed Friday evening that a statement was taken from the boy and his mother and that the allegations were under investigation.
