WEST (June 6, 2014) Landline telephone service had been restored Thursday in West and Abbott after a two-day outage left some customers without telephone service.
For a time those in the affected areas were told to use their cell phones if they had to call 911 because the land lines were not working.
By Thursday evening West police said no one reported having problems with the system following the repair.
The interruption was caused when a construction company who was drilling holes to install fiber optic cables to enhance telephone service cut existing lines.
