Texas-Based Soldier Dies In Bomb Attack In Afghanistan

WASHINGTON (June 29, 2012)-- Sgt. James L. Skalberg Jr., 25, of Cullman, Ala., died Wednesday of wounds he received when enemy forces attacked his vehicle with a homemade bomb, the military said Wednesday.

He was assigned to 4th Battalion, 1st Field Artillery Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Armored Division, from Fort Bliss in El Paso.

First Lt. Stephen C. Prasnicki, 24, of Lexington, Va., who was assigned to 4th Battalion, 319th Airborne Field Artillery Regiment, 173rd Airborne Brigade Combat Team, Warner Barracks, from Bamberg, Germany, also died in the attack.

Further details weren’t released Friday.
