CORPUS CHRISTI (August 13, 2012)--A 13-year-old Corpus Christi boy accused of using a hammer to beat his mother was in juvenile custody Monday, charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon-family violence, police say.
The boy’s mother suffered head, arm and facial injuries that are not believed to be life threatening, Senior Officer Julie Garcia said.
Investigators say the attack happened Saturday night after the boy and his 33-year-old mother got into an argument.
Police say the boy fled after the attack, but later returned to the family's apartment where he was found hiding under a bed.
