DALLAS (September 25, 2012)--Colleagues of Dyrk Burcie's firefighter dad organized photos with the 4-year-old's name and a message to cheer up the boy and his family as he fought cancer, but
Dyrk's battle with the disease ended Monday.

Dameon Burcie says his son died Monday morning at the family's home in Dallas.

The boy's funeral will be Friday at First Baptist Church of Midlothian and he will be buried at Mount Zion Cemetery near Midlothian, 30 miles southwest of Dallas.

The Dallas firefighters' photo project caught on with crews at other departments, who also posted images on a Facebook page devoted to the child.

One photo included two fire trucks and digitally added logos from "Transformers," Dyrk's favorite.

Another photo was taken from 100 feet in the air, capturing "DYRK" spelled out in burning hay.
