CONROE (January 20, 2013)--A 4-year-old boy died in a hospital from injuries he sustained when a pit bull attacked him in the backyard of a neighbor’s home near Conroe.

The Montgomery County Sheriff's Office said Christian Gormanous, climbed a chain link fence into the neighbor's yard just after 5 p.m. Saturday.

The dog was chained but somehow managed to attack and bite the boy.

The boy’s 9-year-old sister was able to pull her brother to safety and call for help.

Christian was taken to a hospital in Houston where he died from his injuries.

Deputies are investigating the attack but authorities say they don't expect to file criminal charges.

The dog was in the custody of animal control officers Sunday.
