Texas Boy’s Gets Wish To See Albuquerque Before Eyesight Fails

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (June 1, 2014) Ben Pierce, 9, of Dallas, got his wish to see Albuquerque, N.M., before he goes blind and it was fulfilled in a way he couldn't have imagined as he viewed the city and its blue sky from inside a hot air balloon Saturday.

Ben was born four months premature, and the early birth and scar tissue from subsequent surgeries is gradually robbing him of his eyesight, his mother, Heidi Pierce, said.

Ben’s parents encouraged him start a "bucket list" of places he would like to see and Ben says Albuquerque made the list because he likes the song of the same name performed by "Weird Al" Yankovic.

Other destinations on the boy's wish list include the Grand Canyon, Washington, D.C. and the Redwood Forest.
