HOUSTON (February 2, 2013)—Investigators were looking for leads Saturday after a Houston businessman was shot to death at his home in an upscale neighborhood while hosting a sleepover for his children and friends, police said.
Houston Police Sgt. Brian Harris says the man, whose name was not immediately released, answered the door Friday evening and was shot as he stood in the doorway.
The man’s wife called 911 from the Montrose-area home, Harris said.
She, her husband and their three children and two others who came for the sleepover were in the house at the time of the shooting.
Harris says the man staggered back after he was shot and fell near the children.
Police don't believe the shooting was random.
The man recently sold a beer distributorship, police said.
