FORT WORTH (August 30, 2013)—A Tarrant County constable shot and killed a man who pulled a gun as officers arrived at an apartment in Fort Worth to serve an arrest warrant for nonpayment of child support.
Capt. Charles Ramirez, a Fort Worth police spokesman, said the constable accompanied an officer from the Texas attorney general's office to serve the warrant Thursday.
Ramirez said the man pulled a handgun from his waistband as he met officers on the front porch and was shot as he raised it.
The constable fired at least two shots, Ramirez said.
The man, who was not immediately identified, died at the scene.
No one else was hurt.
