DOTHAN, Ala. (December 10, 2013) Texas death row inmate Douglas Tyrone Armstrong, 43, who’s awaiting execution for a brutal killing during a robbery in 2006, has also been charged in the death of a woman in 2003 in his native Alabama.
A grand jury indicted Armstrong for murder in the death of Debra Wilson, 40, whose body was found by a cleaning crew on May 17, 2003 in a motel room in Dothan, Ala.
Armstrong was later convicted in Texas in the slashing death of a man during a robbery in Hidalgo County.
The victim’s throat was slashed with a box cutter.
Armstrong claims he is innocent of the Texas slaying.
Dothan police say DNA evidence links Armstrong to Wilson's killing.
Grand jurors indicted him last week.
Armstrong is originally from Mobile.
