HOUSTON (January 1, 2012)—An investigation was underway after a Harris County man was shot to death by sheriff's deputies after violently confronting paramedics whom his wife called after he began acting irrationally.

Harris County Sheriff Adrian Garcia said the woman called paramedics Sunday morning.

The paramedics called the sheriff's office after the man, Yemal Yazar, of Seabrook, confronted them violently, Garcia said.

Garcia said the two deputies engaged with Yazar, eventually using a Taser on him before both deputies fired shots.

Yazar died at the scene.

A deputy was taken to a hospital where he was treated for a concussion, cuts and a bite before being released.
