Texas Deputy On Leave After Deadly Shooting

BASTROP (February 16, 2014) A Bastrop County sheriff’s deputy was on administrative leave Sunday after he shot and killed a person while responding to a call involving two men who were fighting over a gun.

The disturbance was reported shortly before midnight Saturday.

The sheriff's office said in a statement that the deputy fired his weapon, killing one person.

The dead person's identity was not immediately released.

The Texas Rangers are assisting in the investigation.
