DALLAS (January 1, 2013)--A Dallas firefighter and a pickup driver were injured early Tuesday when the pickup hit a ladder truck as authorities worked the scene of an earlier accident on Central Expressway.

Police say the ladder truck was blocking the accident scene early New Year's Day when the pickup rear-ended it.

The firefighter and pickup driver were taken to a hospital.

The accident the firefighters were blocking involved an accused drunken driver whose vehicle struck a police car from behind on the shoulder of the road.

An officer and female passenger in the police car weren't injured.

The female passenger was in the police car after she was abandoned on the road following a disturbance.

The pickup truck’s driver was arrested.

Dallas Fire-Rescue did not release details about the firefighter's injuries.
